Rebecca Shin, D.M.D.
Dr. Rebecca Shin is a native Oregonian and attended Portland State University, where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in 2003. She graduated with a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the Oregon Health Science University (OHSU) School of Dentistry in 2007. Upon graduation, Dr. Shin began practicing at the Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Hillsboro Dental Clinic in Hillsboro, Oregon following her joy in public health dentistry. After 3 years, she and her family moved cross country to Charlottesville, VA. Dr. Shin started at Bowman Family Dentistry as an associate dentist on February 1, 2010, and became business owner in 2016 under mentorship of Dr. Bowman.

Outside of dentistry, Dr. Shin loves to spend time and travel with her family, is a deacon at her church where she is involved with the music and college ministries, and loves serving through her Rotary Club.

Kelly McKown, D.D.S.
Providing quality dental care in a comfortable and pleasant atmosphere is the priority of Dr. Kelly McKown. She grew up in the mountains of Falls View, West Virginia, living with her parents in a small town where she developed a strong sense of community. She started her career in dentistry as a dental hygienist attending a local community college, West Virginia Institute of Technology. Within two years of entering the field, Dr. McKown had the drive to serve her patients in a broader capacity by pursuing the education to become a dentist. After completing her dental pre-requisites at West Virginia State University, she was accepted into West Virginia University School of Dentistry and graduated in 2010 with her DDS degree. After graduation she worked as an associate in WV and later moved to Harrisonburg, Virginia where she owned her own practice for almost 10 years. Dr. McKown has continued to expand her knowledge throughout her career and in 2020 became a Diplomate with the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine. This enables her to treat patients' obstructive sleep apnea with dental devices as an alternative to CPAP.

Dr. McKown enjoys the relationships formed working with her patients. She provides quality dentistry and sleep apnea treatment for her patients while creating a comfortable environment for care. In her time away from work, Dr. McKown spends her time with her four children. Her family enjoys traveling and spending time outdoors camping. She is also an avid backpacker, and despite her busy life, has completed nearly 100 miles of the Appalachian in the last two years.
Kenneth D. Bowman, D.D.S.
Congratulations to Dr. Kenneth Bowman on his retirement! He has dedicated his heart and soul in service of his patients for more than 50 years while building our amazing dental practice. Though he will be sorely missed, we are thrilled to see him enjoy retirement in our community surrounded by family and friends (many of whom started as patients!).

Dr. Bowman is one of Virginia’s own, born in Grottoes, Virginia. He graduated from Montevideo High School then went on to earn his Bachelor of Arts degree from Bridgewater College in 1963. Pursuing one of his life passions, he attended Medical College of Virginia earning one of the highest clinical awards in his third year of dental school. Once Dr. Bowman graduated with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1967, he opened his private practice in downtown Waynesboro. Since then, Dr. Bowman continued to provide compassionate, exceptional and customized dental care for patients from the Staunton/Augusta/Waynesboro area as well as larger surrounding areas.

Dr. Bowman and his wife, Nancy, are the proud parents of two grown sons, grandparents to three wonderful grandchildren, and great-grandparents to two amazing great-grandkids. He enjoys golf, is deeply involved in the Fish & Game Association, is a long-time board member and supporter of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church and is the biggest fan and supporter of the Bridgewater Eagles.
Hannah
Master Practice Administrator
Hannah has been in dentistry for 10 years, from her student experience as an extern at a private dental office, to our office Scheduling & Insurance Coordinator, and now, Master Practice Administrator. Hannah enjoys getting to know our patients and helping them feel at ease within our practice. In her spare time, Hannah enjoys camping, fishing, and spending time with her husband and two wonderful boys!
Sadie
Patient Treatment Coordinator
Sadie attended Valley Career and Technical Center for dental assisting and has worked in dentistry for 6 years. Sadie’s top priority is to make patients feel heard, understood and comfortable. She enjoys building long-lasting relationships with all of her patients. Outside of the office, Sadie enjoys spending time with her fiancé, Aaron, and their daughter, Reece. She’s also a dog mom and adores her Labradors, Jake and Wesson.
Amy
Office Concierge & Hygiene Coordinator
Amy joined our practice in March 2020. In her spare time, she enjoys her family time, being outdoors (when it’s warm), and playing with her four-legged babies. Amy’s favorite part about dentistry is meeting new people and being able to help them. She states it is “definitely a learning experience.”
Madison
Registered Dental Hygienist
Madison grew up in Stuarts Draft and attended Stuarts Draft High School, BRCC, JMU (bachelors in Health Sciences), and most recently, VWCC. Her orthodontist, Dr. Cloth, got her interested in dentistry so she took the dental assisting course at what was then Valley Vocational Technical Institute during her senior year of high school. After high school graduation, Dr. Bowman offered her a part-time job as a dental assistant and introduced her to the professional world. Madison's favorite part of dentistry is educating patients. We are constantly learning about new techniques and products that can help our patients achieve their oral health goals and she loves being in a position that allows her to share that knowledge. Madison enjoys swimming, visiting local parks, and spending time with friends and family when not taking care of patients.
Lindsey
Registered Dental Hygienist
Lindsey is a graduate of Wytheville Community College and has her Applied Science Degree in Dental Hygiene. Lindsey enjoys getting to know her patients and making a positive influence with education and encouragement. When Lindsey is not serving patients, she enjoys spending time in the outdoors with her husband, Preston, and their rambunctious fur babies.
Taylor
Registered Dental Hygienist
Taylor was born and lived in Staunton until she was about 4 years old. She then moved to Bath County, VA where she spent most of her childhood and teenage years, and returned back to Staunton in 2013. Taylor graduated from Virginia Western Community College in May of 2019 with an Associate’s of Applied Science with a Major in Dental Hygiene. Her own experience with dental braces sparked her interest in the dental field because of the confidence it brought to her smile. She started out as a dental assistant, assisting the doctors with restorative procedures and then wanted to continue her education to get into more preventative dentistry and help educate patients on preventing disease. Taylor’s favorite part about dentistry is educating patients on their current oral health condition and educating them on how to get to a healthy state to prevent further disease progression. She also enjoys getting to know patients on a personal level and developing a good patient/provider relationship. In her spare time, she loves spending time with her husband Schyler. They enjoy playing any and all sports and being outdoors. Taylor also enjoys spending time with family. Her favorite part about living in the valley are the beautiful views that we get to experience daily.
Amber
Lead Dental Assistant
Amber has worked in dentistry since 2010. She is a farmer’s wife and a fur mama of one. Amber enjoys spending time with her family, being outdoors, feeding the cows, and shopping. She enjoys working in dentistry because she gets to help others and build relationships with patients.
Brittany

Brittany has been working for Bowman Family Dentistry since 2010. She enjoys being a Dental Assistant and loves performing a variety of tasks during the day. She particularly loves taking care of her patients in need. In her free time, Brittany enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, shopping and camping.
Brittani
Dental Assistant
Brittani grew up in Rockingham County and currently resides in Mt. Sidney with her husband and adorable daughter. She attended Massanutten Technical Center for dental assisting and has been a dental assistant for 10 years. Brittani has always been interested in dentistry! She loves helping those with dental anxiety to feel more at ease in the dental chair. When outside of the office, Brittani enjoys spending my time with family, camping at the lake, gardening, and shopping!
Brie
Dental Assistant
Brie was born and raised in the valley and has been in the dental field since 2022. She chose dental assisting to be able to help others, whether they are in pain or seeking that picture perfect smile. She attended Rockbridge County High School, Blue Ridge Community College, and Piedmont Community College. Brie absolutely loves spending time with her husband and children doing various activities such as going to the lake and supporting family and friends in their endeavors.
