Welcome to Bowman Family Dentistry! Our primary focus is to provide you and your family with the individual attention needed to meet your specific dental goals. While we are meeting those needs, we also emphasize building strong, generational relationships with our patients and their families.

Since 1967, Dr. Kenneth Bowman kept a thriving dental practice in downtown Waynesboro, Virginia. To accommodate growth and acceptance of new patients, Bowman Family Dentistry was relocated to its current location. Dr. Rebecca Shin, Dr. Kelly McKown, and the team offer a vast and comprehensive approach to dentistry.

Diagnostic Exam
At your first visit, a comprehensive examination will be completed by one of our doctors as well as any necessary radiographs. Recommended treatment options will be discussed with you in detail followed by creation of a customized treatment plan.
Preventative Services
We offer a full range of preventive care: dental cleanings, more advanced periodontal care, thorough oral hygiene instruction, fluoride treatments, and sealants. Discussion of nutrition and dental products may also supplement the maintenance or healing of your gums and prevent tooth decay. Dental check-ups are recommended at least every 6 months. A regular schedule allows our doctors to partner with you to maximize prevention of oral disease and help maintain excellent oral health.
Restorative Services
If your tooth is recommended a restoration, a filling may be recommended. Decay is removed and then the prepared area is filled to full function and contour. Today’s technology and time-tested dental materials allow fillings to blend in with the rest of your teeth and have a more esthetic, natural appearance.
Crown & Bridge
Crowns and bridges are made from the finest high grade porcelain and ceramic materials. We match the shade of the prosthetic so that it blends in with the rest of your dentition, and provides an esthetic result. For a missing tooth, a dental bridge may be a great replacement option for a missing tooth.
Complete & Partial
Dentures
If you are in need of replacing missing teeth, our doctors can help determine whether a partial or complete denture would be the best option for you. Denture repairs and relines are also offered either in-office or through a dental lab.
Root Canal Treatment
We evaluate and treat disease for an injured nerve, or pulp, of a tooth. Complete root canal therapy may be completed in one or multiple appointments.
Oral Surgery
Your tooth or part of your tooth may be determined to be unhealthy and an extraction is recommended. Our doctors perform both simple and surgical extractions, as indicated after evaluation. Recommended extractions associated with orthodontic treatment can also be performed when appropriate.
Cosmetic Dentistry
We will help you determine if esthetic veneers or restorations, or tooth whitening may help you reach your goals of a beautiful smile.
Minor Orthodontics
We can provide treatments that will result in limited movement of teeth to achieve a better bite and esthetic value. This can be done through the use of an orthodontic retainer or other appliance which is adjusted over a series of appointments.
Child Visits
Why not start a lifetime of excellent dental health for your child? Just as it is essential for your child to be seen regularly for well-child check-ups by their pediatrician, it is equally important for him or her to be evaluated by a licensed dentist to maintain their life-long dental health. We recommend he or she to visit us by their first tooth or first birthday, whichever may arrive first. On their very first visit, we orient and help your child become comfortable meeting the dentist during a “happy visit.” A thorough examination is done, and as your child grows, any necessary radiographs are taken at certain intervals to make sure the surfaces of the teeth and surrounding bone are doing great. We do our very best to make your child’s first visit a positive experience.
Nitrous Oxide Analgesia
Dr. Shin not only listens to your questions and concerns about your oral health, she is there to help make your experience comfortable with gentle techniques and offers the use of Nitrous Oxide Analgesia, sometimes known as laughing gas. It can be offered to patients who are anxious about having dental treatment done without having to be sedated.
Emergency Visits
Toothaches or other emergencies can occur at an unexpected moment, and you should not have to endure them for too long. Same day appointments can be arranged. After a thorough review of your health information, a visual exam, and any necessary radiographs are taken, your doctor will work with you to put you at ease and help get you out of discomfort.
